Special March promotion for Save the Dalmatians charity!

I am having a special promotion for the month of March, to benefit the Save the Dalmatians canine rescue group. For the month of March, 10% of any sales from my Etsy store will be donated to this wonderful rescue charity. In my etsy store, I have not only original paintings and sculptures, but also mixed media and functional decor pieces for the home, which make great gifts for yourself or a loved one.

Orchid photographs

Last week I had the chance to visit a local conservatory and see an exhibit of orchids and other tropical plants. The colors were amazing! Many of the plants were related to native ones we have here, such as different varieties of lady slipper orchids. I took my 35mm camera and tripod along, and took a bunch of photographs. (I'm old fashioned when it comes to photographing, I much prefer using film!)

The images will be added to my web site soon, with matted 8 x 10's available for purchase. I also have plans to do some paintings and create some digitally altered images using the photos.

Here are two pics of some of the orchids.......

Web site updates!

I have spent most of this week making some much-needed updates to my web site. I've changed the color scheme, and have added a lot more pics of my art; pieces which have sold, as well as new pieces which were just completed this month.

Also, Worldwide Women Artists, an international women's art collective I co-founded with friend and fellow artist Laura Iverson, started expanding our group blog this week. The group blog may be found HERE.

Now it's Friday, and I'm looking forward to getting back to painting! :)

Assemblage Art!

A friend of mine (and fellow artist and WWAO member) Griselda Tello recently introduced me to the idea of using dominoes in mixed media assemblage art. I've already sold several of them, but here are a couple of the most recent ones I've created.

DRAGONFLY DANCE

Currently available for purchase
in my ebay store.

VINTAGE ROSE

Currently available for purchase
in my ebay store.

I really enjoy the variety of materials and techniques which can be used in creating these pieces. The ones above have ink, paper, faux gold and silver leaf, micro glitter, paint, colored pencil, glass, and ribbon.

Most Recent Paintings

It's been a busy several months since I last posted to my blog. The holidays came and went, and now here we are already a month and a half into the new year!

Most of the paintings I've done since my last posting have already sold, so I'll stick with sharing the newest ones which are still available as of the time I'm writing this.

One series I started this winter is my American Vistas series, which features landscapes showcasing the wonderful variety of terrain we have in this country. My latest in the series is called "Spacious Skies":

Oils on canvas
16" x 20"

The latest painting in my Joyful Gardens series, entitled "En Fleur" was just completed over the weekend:

Acrylics on canvas
24" x 36"

Here is another abstract I painted last week, entitled "Cosmic Light":

Acrylics on canvas
10" x 60"

And here is the latest from my newest series, the Windows of Imagination series. This one is entitled "Sapphire Vision":

Oils on canvas
8" x 10"

Some of these are currently available at a huge savings on the ArtByUs web site:
